We were out shopping the other day and we ended up buying three 15 watt solar panels with charge controller to mount on our sailboat. It was a spur of the moment thing. We were looking around in a hardware store and happened to spot them on an end cap. It seemed like a good deal, so we went for it.
They are Chicago Electric panels that come in a kit with the charge controller, two florescent lights, plugs for charging common electronics, a USB charger, and battery cables. A nifty little setup to be sure.
I’ll be planning the installation at the boat this weekend. Not sure if I’ll be able to mount the panels, but I’ll have the controller mounted and ready. It all depends on how I can design a mount for the panels to sit on.
